International Relations > International India Innovations Program
The 21st century is being defined by the rise of China and India. India’s developmental trajectory has been unique in that it is a bottom’s up organic growth driven by individual initiative and enterprise in a democratic setting, which is further embedded in India’s rich civilizational tapestry of unity in diversity. Out of this diversity, India has thrown up unique innovations beyond the traditional definitions of the western world. It is only now that these innovations have come forth in the economic arena with new models of technology, business, governance and the social sector that are impacting millions.
EMPI has been extensively working in the area of innovation since the year 2005, when it seeded the idea of a nation wide search for innovative organizations. This EMPI initiative launched by the then President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, was joined by the leading newspaper daily the following year and the awards were re-christened as the 'EMPI-Indian Express Indian Innovation Awards'. The leading consulting major - Boston Consulting Group also joined in as the Research Partner and Process Validator the same year.
The program draws extensively from EMPI's substantive work in the area of Innovation and attempts to give students an understanding of the dynamics of modern innovative India. It attempts to give students an understanding of the dynamics of modern innovative India by showcasing the innovations and the diversity of India. They also get to experience the hospitality and warmth of India.
